Langton's Classification of Australian Wine IV

Langton's is unquestioned as Australia's leading specialist wine auction company with operations in Sydney and Melbourne and a "strategic association" with Christie's of London. Directors Stewart Langton and Andrew caillard MW have co-authored three editions of langton's Fine Wine Investment Guide, the bible of investment in Australian wine.

Andrew Caillard describes the Classifications four levels as follows:

  • Exceptional The most highly sought-after and prized Australian wines on the market.
  • Outstanding "Super Seconds" of the Australian wine market. Benchmark quality wines with a very strong market following.
  • Excellent High-performing wines of exquisite quality achieving slightly lower values and market strength.
  • Distinguished Secondary market staples or emerging classics. Sometimes undervalued by the market.
