2010 Estate Vineyard Chardonnay

Our first Chardonnay completely fermented and aged underground in our cave. This means a slower and more even ageing process, combined with the cooler season this has resulted in a wine with very long ageing potential. 2011 Barrel tasting notes: The tasting notes above certainly also apply to 2011 - a little more racy again, a further example of power and concentration. This will develop amazing depth and complexity.

2010 Estate Vineyard Shiraz

A highly expressive nose of violets and graphite, with a wild briar character. This is the first Giaconda Shiraz with a small Viognier component - which adds an interesting extra dimension. It has an elegant structure but still retains its latent power. An ethereal palate and refined tannins. Only the second release of the Estate Shiraz, it is showing great promise and has developed outstanding depth while still holding great refinement.

2011 Barrel tasting notes: A melange of red fruits, briar, pepper and spice, very aromatic and shows great potential. Fine taut and long with Rhone like flavours, finishing with the evident fine balanced tannins extending the palate. I feel this wine will develop great finely structured depth.

2010 Warner Vineyard Shiraz

The nose is profoundly deep with scents of herb, red fruits and coffee. A firm and more refined, tightly structured palate reflecting a cooler vintage. Exotic Rhone like characters of wild herbs are developing as a counterpoint to the evident dark fruit. This continues the traditional Warner vineyard style and should offer good ageing potential.

2011 Barrel tasting notes: A complex nose, spice, pepper and undergrowth shows lifted characters as a result of the cooler vintage. Vibrant palate, long and exotic. A little finer and lighter than previous Warner vintages. Showing elegance with a red fruit spectrum.

2010 Yarra Valley & Beechworth Pinot Noir

Beautiful deep aromatics of cherry and exotic spices. Characters of forest floor are evident on both the nose and palate. It has a rich, savoury and powerful palate, followed by grippy tannins and lingering acidity. Great balance with perfect weight. This wine further reinforces our opinion of the Beechworth and Yarra Valley blend.

2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

A lifted nose of cedar, cassis and black fruits. Ripe cabernet aroma with no leafy overtones. Powerful elegant palate showing the black fruits and cedar. Very fine with depth, concentration and fine grain tannins. Bordeaux lovers will really appreciate the fine but assertive character of this wine.

2010 Nantua Les Deux Chardonnay

Nantua is a blend of Chardonnay and Roussanne from the Giaconda Estate and Warner vineyards, barrel fermented with approximately 30% new oak. This wine is made using the same method as our Estate Chardonnay, with less oak maturation. This year we have used a higher percentage of Giaconda Chardonnay in the blend.
